About Alicia

My name is Alicia and I am 28 years old. I have decided to write this series of blog posts because I want to share this new stage in my life as well as document my progress. I am happy, but I know that there are steps I need to take to be happier.

A suggestion to attain success and more happiness within life stems from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. Mr. Covey suggested that one should put together a personal constitution. The constitution is supposed to lay out what your priorities and values are and accordingly your decisions in life should be guided by these principles. Mr. Covey also suggests this should be posted somewhere so that one can be reminded of these expectations. I thought this would be a great avenue to present my personal constitution.
Enjoy!

1) As a starting premise, my goal every day is to take time to be thankful for something. This will help me achieve joy in the moment, feel satisfied about my past, and set the path for joy in my future. It  will also help me build relationships with those in my circle of friends.

I will take initiative when it comes to accomplishing my life goals. I will use what money and talents I have to make life more enjoyable for others through service and charitable giving.I will seek financial dependence over time. Money will be my servant, not my master. This means I will keep track of how much I spend and earn every month. I will also put aside money into my savings account every month. I will also pay off my debt within 1 year.

I will take the time to nurture relationships:
This involves telling people why I appreciate them. Organize my schedule so that I meet with someone I care about at least once a week. I will take the time to understand that person’s perspective. I will learn more about their interests and explore how they are pursuing their interests.

Professional Aspirations:
I will plan tomorrow’s work today. As I search for a position, I will ensure it is something I enjoy and that it has a meaningful contribution to society. I will set up my work environment so that I am constantly learning something. I will continue to be release my creativity at the workplace.

My health, home, and car.

I will not engage in addictive, destructive habits such as: alcohol abuse, drug abuse, lying, and cheating. I will act on situations; rather than be acted upon.My home will be a place where my family, friends, and guests find comfort, peace, and happiness. My home and car will also be clean and orderly. I will walk and run with my dog everyday.
